The Premier League Case Study

When The Premier League visited Liverpool for the Labour Party Conference, they needed a venue that could deliver the right mix of exclusivity, atmosphere, and hospitality. The Long Shot, located on the Albert Dock, was chosen to host their private corporate gathering of 150 people - a testament to our reputation as one of Liverpool’s leading destinations for professional events and celebrations.

The event brought together senior delegates, partners, and guests in a relaxed yet refined setting, with our team providing full venue hire, bespoke drinks service, food for all guests, and tailored event support to ensure a seamless experience.

Every detail, from layout and lighting to music, food and drink, was curated to reflect the prestige of the organisation and the significance of the occasion.

Hosting The Premier League during such a high-profile week for the city was both an honour and an opportunity to demonstrate what The Long Shot does best - combining impeccable service, flexible event spaces, and an unbeatable atmosphere to create memorable experiences for corporate clients.

The Long Shot was the perfect place to hold our match screening. We were really impressed by the setup with big screens, great sound, and plenty of space for our guests to enjoy the game. This included a mixture of comfortable booths for small groups and a larger standing area and longer tables where those who wanted to could mix with each other. The layout lended itself to our half-time panel section too. Guests both upstairs and downstairs were able to see and hear what was going on. The staff were brilliant throughout, really accommodating and easy to work with. It’s a great venue for holding a professional event in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

-- Peter Middlehurst, Head of Parliamentary Engagement, Premier League

In preparation for The Premier League’s private event, The Long Shot team transformed the venue into a fully equipped corporate space. Our staff coordinated a complete technical setup, including a professional PA system, bespoke lighting, and use of all 11 in-house large screens plus a central projector to display branded visuals and live content throughout the night. Every element was tested and fine-tuned in advance to ensure flawless performance and a smooth guest experience from start to finish.

The event styling included detailed preparation for The Premier League’s own branding and merchandise. Our team worked closely with their representatives to arrange prominent display areas and ensure the perfect setting for the iconic Premier League trophy - a major highlight for attendees. Self-serve drinks were available for guests upon arrival, with bespoke cocktails and drinks available from the bar.

Merchandise stands were carefully laid out, lighting adjusted for photography opportunities, and signage positioned to elevate the overall presentation while maintaining the venue’s signature atmosphere.

On the night, a managed guest list on the door ensured a secure and seamless entry process for over 150 invited guests. Our bar and kitchen teams delivered exceptional service throughout, providing a range of drinks and catering options tailored to the occasion. From initial planning to final execution, every detail was handled in-house - showcasing The Long Shot’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-profile events with precision, personality, and professionalism.

Speeches made throughout the evening could be both seen and heard from every part of the venue.

Food

We worked with the organisers to ensure all dietary requirements were catered for. The organisers opted for a casual buffet-style setup for food, which included; Large Wings and Chicken (Hot, BBQ, Salt + Pepper), a large selection of our famous sandwiches (Steak, Chicken, Halloumi), Mac & Cheese (with & without bacon), Garlic bread & cheese, Jalapeno poppers, Cauliflower bites, Waffle fries (with & without cheese, with & without bacon).

The selection of food was chosen by the organisers, with the help of our event organisers and kitchen staff. All food can be tailored to meet the requirements of the event.

The Venue

The organisers visited the venue when we were closed in order to fully understand the space. We have a number of different areas, including:

  • A large open area downstairs with lots of tables.

  • 2 partitionable areas downstairs with fixed seating.

  • An area for a DJ booth and speeches.

  • A mezzanine area.

  • Several quiet breakout areas upstairs.
